Ohhhh, WOW! Another dreamy read. Gosh I love the reminiscing, the memories you evoke, the poignancy and always the excellent humor. I think I can’t remember much, but here I am recalling Mom and Dad in bowling leagues; some family bowling time; young girl me and friends at Mancuso Lanes in Batavia, NY! Later on we’d go for fries at night and not even bowl! Also: “Strikes, Spares and Misses” with Chuck Healey on TV! Thank you for this trip!

Great writing, Kate. You kept me reading from beginning to end.

Have you checked out George Saunder's Substack, Story Club? I think you'd like it. https://georgesaunders.substack.com/

Beautiful. Thank you. Coincidentally we went bowling last night as a family, all 6 of us and my daughters boyfriend, as a wee celebration for her 18th on Thursday. It was fun. Your prose reminded me of my first times, almost 40 years ago, in the Aylesbury bowling alley, first with the Cub Scouts and then as a young blow on the youth club team. A very different place to the alleys of today. Good times.
